When the Professional Competence Scheme commenced, there was no formal allowance for periods of leave from clinical practice. The Medical Council have now asked all Training Bodies to reflect leave from clinical practice, of greater than three months, in the Annual Statement of Participation.
The Medical Council wish to pilot a new Patient Multisource Feedback tool and RCSI have agreed to seek volunteers to pilot the use of this tool in an Irish context.

The Continuous Professional Development_Support Scheme (CPD_SS) which is supported by HSE NDTP and was formerly known as the Professional Development Programme offers an array of classes in technical skills, Emergency Medicine and Human Factors in Patient Safety along with a range of online activities which affords NCHDs in non-training posts an easy and free way to accrue 20 External Credits per annum.
