RCSI has also commenced this process and has randomly selected 44 doctors to participate in this verification process for the year 1st May 2011 – 30th April 2012. This process involves checking on each of the activities that have been uploaded to a doctor’s Professional Competence Scheme (PCS) profile and the CPD credits assigned to each activity. Certain activities require supporting documentation and, if this has not been uploaded, doctors are requested to upload (or submit) this evidence for each appropriate activity up to the minimum requirement – 50 CPD credits per year and one Clinical Audit.
This is a supportive exercise aimed to promote confidence in what doctors are recording, identify shortfalls and provide support to assist doctors in addressing shortfalls in meeting the Professional Competence Scheme requirements.
If you have received correspondence from the RCSI PCS office notifying you that you have been selected and require any help or assistance please do not hesitate to contact the RCSI Professional Competence Office.
If verified with no further corrective action then selected doctors this year will not be verified for the next two years and then only verified if randomly selected.
All selected doctors have already been notified by email. If you have not been sent notification, then you will not be selected for verification for the current year under review (2011-2012). The next verification process will take place in the second half of 2013.
You must pay this fee to be enrolled in the scheme, to enter credits for the current year 2012-2013 and to be able to produce a Statement of Participation when required.
Re-enrol by paying your fee online using your credit card click https://pcs.rcsi.ie
Fellows and members of RCSI who wish to pay their Fellowship/Membership fee at the same time are entitled to a €150 discount on the PCS fee, when paying the PCS fee and Fellows and Members fee together on the dedicated Fellowship & Membership Portal (FAMP) https://famp.rcsi.ie.
Please note that if you do not pay your subscription before April 30th 2013, you will not be in compliance with the Medical Council requirements regarding professional competence and will be obliged to declare this when renewing your Medical Council registration. Failure to do so will be regarded as a serious breach of professional responsibility by the Medical Council. You should also be aware that the Medical Council is likely to focus their audit on Doctors who are not in a position to declare that they are compliant
